by: CMAA-BTT The Pan Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi Championship 2008 took place in New York City last weekend, the tournament was realized by the United States Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation, a subdivision of the International BJJ Federation and it was the first time the east coast of the United States saw an IBJJF event. The event had a lot of world class fighters and Brazilian Top Team Boston sent its "black belt club" to NY along with other athletes. Competing as Black Belt Master, Carlos Neto took silver and BTT/Boston head coach João Amaral got bronze in the middle weight division. Brian Caldwell was placed 3rd in the black belt master open class. The Black Belt male adult division as any BJJ tournament had the most expected fights and Oscar Junior managed to take the bronze in the "tough" light weight division; Renan Borges showed to everyone his sharp game and after scored several points, arm bared Aaron Milam (Renzo Gracie) getting the gold in the feather weight. Thayse Nascimento fighting for the first time as a black belt got the 2nd place in her division but managed to get he gold in the brown/black belt female open class.Marcelo Salazar, another BTT fighter got 3rd place in the middle weight division. Huge results for Brazilian Top Team Boston : Six black belts bought 2 gold medals, 2 silver and 3 bronze and a few other athletes went to NY to represent the team.
